We had the pleasure of being a vender at GRUnveiled this year. GRUnveiled is a modern bridal show that showcases lovely smaller businesses from the greater Grand Rapids area.

This year we spent $0 on building our booth. However, next year we might need to go bigger... there were some AMAZING booths this year.

DIY Boutonniere

Thanks to Google alerts, I've found a few tutorials on how to make a Pixel & Hank Boutonniere. These DIY brides post our photos and link directly to the shop. I was a little upset at first but ended up convincing myself that imitation is the best form of flattery. Am I wrong?

So, when my friend Carrie shared the Ready Made DIY contest I decided I should post my own DIY. (If you can't bet 'em, join 'em)?

FYI, I do not currently carry this item in my shop, this is a very simplified version of a P&H boutonniere!

Pixel & Hank's - Shabby Chic Wedding Boutonniere / Corsage

Materials
2-3 faux flower stems
2 pieces of coordinating fabric
Ribbon
Floral wire
Floral Tape

Tools
Scissors
Glue gun

1. Cut your coordinating fabric in to 2x4 squares {a}. Decide which fabric will be the 'top' leaf and cut two leaves out of the the fabric {b}. Layer top fabric leaf over bottom fabric {c} and cut around top leaf {d}.

2. Place floral wire between bottom and top leafs {e} and glue them together {f}. Next, take floral stems {g} and wrap them together with floral tape {h}.

3. Combine leaves and floral {left} and wrap them together with floral tape. Continue wrapping base evenly until it is the right thickness. Trim the excess wire and tie a bow {right}.

So, there it is! Get to work!

Nearly a week after Amy Carroll and I wrapped up our first collaboration we were scheming the next. We instantly decided we were going to head to Chicago for a three day extravaganza of eating, gossiping, shopping and taking pretty pictures!

This one of the best vintage inspired events I've seen in along time. Melanie and Jon had a destination wedding, once they returned they had an truly unique reception for their family and friends. When Annalise contacted me about a lovely custom yellow, gray and purple boutonnieres I was ecstatic! I love hearing a vision and then seeing it come to life.

I want to begin this post by telling the story of how I actually came across this lovely and amazing photoshoot.

90% of my boutonniere orders are in large quantities, so when only one is order at a time I get curious. I envision these little bountonierres playing a small role in something totally awesome. When I notice one of my little guys was purchased by a photographer I immediately googled them. I was delighted to come across the lovely blog of 13:13 Boutique Wedding Photography and proceeded to bookmark. Weeks later, my little dream came true and my bout 'James' was used in a beautiful photo shoot. Seriously, this photoshoot is outta this world! A fab collaboration of photographers, super creative people and a hot adorable couple.

Thanks to Daniel (Daniel Lateulade | Photographer) and Ashely (13:13 Boutique Wedding Photography) for taking and sharing these photos with me. I'm super delighted!

Its also fun to see the different perspectives on the day and my little boutonniere "James" in-action. Enjoy friends.

We had our second photoshoot EVER and could not be more excited to share this preview. These photos were captured by the oh-so-talented Amy Carroll. This is a the lovely wedding of the beautiful Leslie and Brandon. I've known Brandon since elementary and Leslie since high school. I was able to attend the wedding and provide some pretty little elements.

We all know the baby headband trend. I've been a little hesitant to create them, due to my lack of knowledge of anything baby.

When Michelle of En Vida Studio contacted me about custom baby items for upcoming photo shoots, I couldn't refuse. I mean seriously, have you seen her baby photos? Pretty darn amazing!

Michelle snapped recently snapped these photos of her little one Selene. She is just a doll and provided the perfect mini model!

I not officially carrying baby items in the shop, research and development is still underway, but These photos are too cute not to share!

Miranda and Dave

Way back in November, Miranda contacted us via etsy for a set of custom boutonnieres. This was a girl with a mission, she knew exactly what she wanted, she just need it executed.

Months went by until I received a wonderful little message with a link to Miranda and Dave's wedding photos!

Here we are posing like dorks in front of our setup. I was quite proud of my setup. Each item came from my house or my parents... my space cost me only $2 (I paid a $1 for the mini framed mirrors!).
Amoungst the chaos Nicole was able to grab this adorable little shot on the right. I think it is just darling!

Wow, I'm exhausted from GRunveiled last night. Not only did I meet some great brides, I was able to hang with some of Grand Rapids freshest wedding peeps. I could do a huge recap but nothing is better than photos. Thanks goodness Nicole Haley was there to capture the night. I look forward to seeing her awesome photos.

I also have some fresh new items up in the shop. I have tons of new goodies to list but I have to be careful not to overwhelm myself. This is all part of a balancing act that I'm still trying to figure out.

Etsy has these awesome little gadgets - gismos - programs called "Treasury" and "Treasury West". Without going into to much detail, these are member curated galleries that have a life time of about 2 days.

Here is a lovely little treasury created by muggytuesday that our plum shoe clips "Caitlin" were included in.

I recently received an etsy request for a custom pair of purple + plum shoe clips with a simple pearl center. After creating I decided these were too cute not to be listed in the shop.

I love how these could be formal with a hot pair of pumps or causal with flats. An off-white pair of peep toes would be stunning!

PS. The request came from a delightful girl named Caitlin. Hence the clips name.

Back in November I sold the ZaraLee headband to a Grand Rapids photographer Kelly Braman. Today I found amazing images on Kelly's blog that contained that very same headband! This couple is too cute!

I heart Fleur Vivante on etsy

This week I bought two huge frames 70% at Kohls. Eager to fill them, I spent last night scouring etsy for the perfect prints. Finally this morning I came across the store Fleur Vivante. Not only are the photos amazing, but they are offering BUY ONE GET ONE. I instantly convo'd for a custom order. Within minutes we had worked something out.

I purchased these two prints at 11x14. They will hang side by side. I love the complementing contrast of the photos. I can only begin to imagine how breathe taking they are in person.

Its on. We've got our first official photo-shoot scheduled. Lots of elements have been falling into place. So many it fells to good to be true.

From the first days of concept for this shoot, The Heritage Company in downtown kalamazoo was my dream location. So, when I official scheduled the shoot their I was thrilled. THRILLED!

Abby's - Matching Clip and Boutonnieres

In early October Abby emailed me about a few custom items. She was having a court house wedding and wanted a matching hair clip and boutonniere. She wanted the give a the boutonniere as a surprise gift to her future Hubs.

... the shabby chic design of our bloom "Caroline" originally caught her attention and for additional inspiration she sent me a photo of her awesome dress!

Seriously, how cute is that dress? Feeling super inspired and excited and I put together a quick digital sketch of her items.She approved!

Prior to sending I took some crappy photos of the finished pieces. Why did I take better photos? Ug!

Much to my delight Abby sent me photo of their wedding day.

FIRST SALE:
My first etsy order EVER came from a fantastic photographer friend Amy of Amy Carroll Photography. Its flattering to know your friends are supporting your new venture, but I don't consider it my first REAL sale - sorry Amy!

FIRST 'REAL' SALE:
My second sale was a Boutonniere that I created for a family member that went unused. This Boutonniere was actually the inspiration for the etsy store, so it was fun that this was my very first real sale. The client who purchased this item also placed a custom order for matching - yet - different boutonniere.
